National Reconciliation Week - 27 May

This event will mark the beginning of Reconciliation Action Week at the ANU and will be formally opened by the VC Professor Brian Schmidt. The event includes presentations from ANU post-graduate researchers from all disciplines as well as an exchange of ideas about reconciliation at ANU.

Performance and Development Supervisor Familiarisation Sessions : May 2016

In September 2015 the University introduced a new on-line Performance Development Review (PDR) form for both Academic and Professional staff to replace the existing paper based process.   

This process has automated the workflow and is supported by data integration with a number of our key systems including ANU Insight (Statement of Academic Activity) and the Human Resources Management System (HRMS).

What's the 'Gold standard' for conference diversity approach

There's much debate currently on how to increase representation of minority groups at scientific conferences. It's essential that the scientific community gets this right, as conferences are where many careers are made and by dis-advantaging one section of our community we are making it poorer. So what's the best approach? Is there a current gold standard that conferences can aspire to in order to maximise their representation of the diverse community that drives them?

Robert and Helen Crompton Award 2016

Nominations are being sought for the Robert and Helen Crompton Award 2016. This Award provides funding of up to $15,000 to assist postgraduate research students enrolled at the Research School of Physics and Engineering to undertake part of their research program overseas or make a collaborative visit to an overseas institution, for three to six months.

Applications will open 9 May 2016 and close 5pm 9 June 2016.

Prof Christine Charles will be away 17 May - 2 July 2016 giving plenary lectures and invited talks at APCPST 2016 in Shanghai, SFP 2016 in Nancy and ICPP in Taiwan and working with collaborators at University College London and French Universities.

Nuclear Physics (NP)
Prof Andrew Stuchbery will be overseas 16 May - 2 June 2016 visiting CSNSM Orsay, France to participate in a Workshop on the physics to be addressed by the ALTO nu-ball hybrid spectrometer and for continued collaborations and research.  Also as a follow-up to the Invited Professor position he held in July 2015 at Universite Paris Sud (CSNSM Orsay).  
Dr Tibor Kibedi will be Acting HoD 16 – 27 May and Dr Greg Lane 28 May - 2 June.
