Biography

Jong H. Chow received his PhD degree in Physics in 2008 from The Australian National University. His research has focused on precision instrumentation, metrology and sensing for use in the fundamental space sciences as well as government, industrial and commercialization applications. He is a Professor in Physics and group leader of the Applied Metrology Laboratory in the Research School of Physics at the Australian National University. His current interests are mainly in translational research, adapting advanced optical interferometric techniques from gravitational wave instrumentation for applications such as fiber-optic sensing, 3D volumetric imaging and optical spectroscopy. He is the Chair of the Research Translation Committee for the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery.
