Dipankar completed his undergraduate program in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati in 2006, with a major in Biotechnology. He then moved to Canada where he pursued a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at University of Calgary and also worked on the development of novel surface microfluidic systems utilizing the principles of Dielectrophoresis. After the completion of his academic program in 2008, Dipankar continued his research at Calgary with the Biosystems Research and Application Group until the end of 2009. He joined the ANFF-SA at Ian Wark Research Institute (University of South Australia) in August 2010 as a Microfluidic Technologist. He has extensive experience in various micro-fabrication techniques and associated processes like plasma etching, physical vapour deposition, photolithography, chemical etching and electroplating. At ANFF-SA, he was actively involved in developing microfabrication processes for making microfluidic devices in glass and polymer materials and, provide training and technical support to students and researchers interested in learning fabrication tools at ANFF-SA. In July 2015, he joined the Electronics Materials and Engineering Group at RSPE, ANU and is currently pursuing doctoral studies. His research project is on the development of Deep UV LEDs.
