Wounds are a largely unrecognized, spiralling epidemic that affect millions of people world-wide. They are complex and involve temporal and spatial involvement of many different cell types and tissue processes. Science has played a major role in helping to understand the cellular processes that are involved in complex wound healing. Despite all best endeavours there are still limited wound care products on the market which actively stimulate the healing process and it is still not possible to regenerate skin after injury.
In this presentation an overview of wound healing will be presented as well as some of the exciting research currently being developed to improve wound management for the future.
