Highly Nonlinear Quantum Optics and Optomechanics

Professor Radim Filip
Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic
Abstract:
The talk will present an overview of recent theoretical and experimental
activities in highly nonlinear quantum optics and optomechanics with
continuous variables. First, it will focus on a generation of highly
instable cubic quantum nonlinearities for optical, atomic and
nanomechanical systems. Second, it will continue on thermally-induced
nonlinear effects producing nonclassical states of light and motion.

Professor Radim Filip is a theory expert in quantum optics, light-matter interaction, quantum optomechanics, quantum communication and quantum information processing. He is a head of a research group at the Department of Optics, the Faculty of Science of the Palacky University in Olomouc. In 2005, he received the Alexander-von-Humboldta Fellowship at MPL Erlangen.  In 2007, he was awarded by the Special recognition of the Czech Science Foundation for his start-up project. In 2011, he received the Prize of President of Czech Science Foundation for his excellent contribution in quantum optics. Since 2014, he is a Scientific Director of the Centre of Excellence for Classical and Quantum Interactions in Nano-World.
