Properties of liquids: Influence of an applied shear

Dr Howard Hanley
Applied Mathematics, ANU

The talk will cover two connected topics. The first is the general awareness that subjecting a liquid, of any form, to an applied shear has a major influence on its thermodynamic and statistical properties.  The second is to show how a shear alters the gelling behaviour of a silica solution.
