The RSPE Vacation Scholarship Program aims to provide talented physics, engineering and maths students with an opportunity to experience research based activities at the School under the guidance of distinguished research staff.
Scholarships are available in all of the School's Departments providing that an appropriate research project is available. The number and value of the Scholarships may vary according to available funding.
For an indication of the type of research projects that can be undertaken in the school please see the list of available projects. Actual vacation projects will always be tailored to suit the student and the time available.
Eligibility
These Scholarships are available to third and fourth year undergraduate physics, maths and engineering students who are interested in furthering their studies or who are considering a career in research. To be eligible you must:
- be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident, or a New Zealand Citizen currently enrolled as a full time undergraduate student, or
- an International Student enrolled as a full time undergraduate student at an Australian University, and
- have completed at least three years of a related undergraduate degree.
Although the program predominantly runs during the summer vacation period, applications for admission outside this period may be considered for students who are completing mid year.
The duration of the scholarship is generally between 8 - 11 weeks and subject to approval by the principal research supervisor.
Selection Criteria
Scholarships are awarded to students based on academic merit and the availability of a suitable research project. Wherever possible, the research interests of the student will be matched to available projects.

Applications for the 2008/9 Scholarship round are now closed. Application forms will be available via this page in early July 2009. The application closing date is 31 August 2009.
