Physical Collection

With the closure of the Research School of Physical Sciences and Engineering Library in September 2005, its entire collection has been integrated into the W. K. Hancock Building in Biology Road. Previously housed in the Le Couteur Building, this collection of physics related research material comprises hundreds of prints serial titles, reference material and a growing collection of over 40,00 books, all of which is searchable on the Library's on-line catalogue.

Off-campus users will need a network username and password to access ANU Library electronic resources. Go to the Reverse Proxy Login page at virtual.anu.edu.au and enter your UniId and password.

  • Bibliographic databases for the physical sciences and related disciplines
  • Inspec
    Inspec is the most comprehensive bibliographic database providing access to scientific and technical literature in: physics, electrical engineering, electronics, communications, control engineering, computers and computing and information technology.
  • Current Contents Connect (part of the ISI Web of Knowledge portal)
    This bibligraphic service provides access to information from scholarly research journals in the sciences, social sciences, and arts and humanities, with good coverage of the Physical, Chemical and Earth Sciences.
  • ISI Web of Knowledge portal provides access to:
    • Web of Science which allows general and cited reference searching.
    • Journal Citation Reports which alllows you to evaluate and compare journals using citation data drawn from over 7,500 scholarly and technical journals from more than 3,300 publishers.
    • Essential Science Indicator Types of data featured in this resource include most cited scientist rankings, institutional (university, corporate, government research lab) rankings, national rankings, and journal rankings.
  • SciFinder Scholar 2006
    SciFinder Scholar provides access to Chemical Abstracts, with citation searching as well as structure searching. Topics include, biochemistry, materials science and environmental science.
