This is the ion source of the 14UD particle accelerator. Here various different ions are liberated from the surface of sources and begin their journey through the accelerator. The horizontally travelling ions are bent through 90 degrees by a large magnet so that they enter the main accelerator vertically. You can find out more about the physics of the nucleus at the ANU here.
To view these panoramas you will need the quicktime plug-in. Most modern browsers come with quicktime, but the free plugin is available from apple computer.
