Below are the courses offered in 2009. There two compulsory courses: Science Skills (worth 4.5 units) and Electromagnetism (worth 6 units) and you will also need to complete three elective courses. Typically these courses will have 18 lectures and the assessment may include written examinations, assignments, essays and oral presentations. Each elective course has a unit value of 4.5. The total unit value of the course work is 24. See course load information.
You should attend any Occupational Health and Safety courses that are relevant to your research project. These do not count towards your five courses.

Course Load
As a guide, you are expected to spend a total of about 90 hours on each course, including lecture and tutorial time, study, assignments, exam preparation and exams. For courses that run for 6 weeks, this averages at 15 hours/week per course. When you are doing two courses simultaneously you should be spending 30 hours/week on courses. If you find you are spending significantly more than 15 hours/week on a course you should let both the lecturer and the Honours Coordinators know.
